Use The Alert Graphical Work Flow Design Tools to define all of Your Business Processes. Using the Workflow Manager tool, custom business processes can be created or changed quickly to fit the rapidly changing needs of an organization. Workflow rules can be as specific as creating a new incident or project and assigning it to the correct employee of the relevant territory, or as generic as invoking a third-party Web service. Workflow rules can be exported into a workflow XML file and all changes made to forms and schema can be exported to an XML file. The purpose of this export is to facilitate the implementation of specific solutions in multiple businesses and to enable you to instantiate sets of common customizations rapidly.

There are several levels of customization possible in Alert software—database schema, application (including customizing forms, and views), and business processes.
Alert is flexible and easy to customize—without programming. Take advantage of drag-and-drop form design, point-and-click business rules, and simple database administration to easily meet the unique needs of your business.
Change forms and data Views
In the UI, forms, views, and previews can be modified to allow the business to achieve the level of specialization required. This level of customization can be superficial or require modifications to the database schema. Both types of customization can be accomplished easily with the System Tools area in the application, and with the Schema Manager tools
- Any field not on a standard table, including user defined fields can be easily added to any screen in a drag and drop manner using the powerful design tool.

Integration with Microsoft Word Mail Merge lets users export Alert data to Word and easily create and print communications materials for prospects and customers. Alert data and reports can be exported to Microsoft Excel for sorting and further analysis.

Scalable data storage and management
A database and a well-defined data access layer are contained in the data tier. The data store is Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000. The data access layer provides a consistent programming interface for the service developer, one that abstracts platform business logic from the underlying data source and frees developers from the need to map the Alert objects into a relational data store.
Application Extensibility
Although the software targets the common customizations for visual tools, Alert offers a rich environment for advanced customizations. Developers can extend the functionality of Alert as well as integrate other systems with the solution.
Integrating additional functionality and Web services
While Alert is a great fit for the majority of mid market service companies, some customers may need special features that map to their specific business or industry. To ensure you can use Alert to meet the needs of these customers, the solution includes built-in support for integrating additional custom code and user interfaces into the Alert experience. Developers can add menus to the application or register components for custom callouts from the Alert workflow engine or object model. These extension points, in turn, send data to custom code modules. For example, a custom code module might integrate a Web-based credit check system from a third party into the Account form, or it might show the Purchase order status directly from the sourcing company.
